Describe your room to a friend who is coming to stay.

On the telephone. Helfen is arriving on Friday and wants to know where he is sleeping.

• Say the room is small but bright.
• Say the bed is by the window.
• Say yes, there is a desk next to the bed.
• Say yes, of course.
• Say you are looking forward to it.

1. 1Helfen speaks first. Listen — the German and its English are both on screen.
2. 2Read the line under “Sagen Sie” out loud. That yellow box always holds the sentence to say. The microphone opens by itself and turns red.
3. 3He answers what you actually said. 5 exchanges, and it ends when the errand is done.

Once it feels easy, turn the phrases off and do it cold — that is the whole point of coming back.
