Unsere Vision

Why Übungszeit exists

You can learn a lot of German from apps, courses and textbooks. What almost none of them give you is enough practice — the kind where you read, listen, write and speak, make mistakes, and have someone patient explain them until they click. That gap is the whole reason this school was built.

Übungszeit — “practice time” — is deliberately built like a school, not an app. Behind the entrance are five classroom doors, one for each level from A1 to C1. Inside every classroom are the same four stations — Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking — because real fluency only comes when all four grow together.

Every exercise here is original and written by hand for its level: stories, dialogues, letters, scenes from real life. Nothing is scraped or copied. We would rather have fewer, better sets than an ocean of filler.

We also teach in the open on YouTube — lessons on the German that trips people up, free to anyone whether they ever sign up here or not. You can watch them on the Lessons page, where each one links to the written guide and the exercises that practise it.

And in every room there is Helfen — the school's tutor. Ask for a hint or an explanation whenever you like, and he corrects you on the turn rather than saving it all for a verdict at the end. The part that makes it stick: Helfen remembers. Every correction he writes is tagged to the grammar rule behind it and quietly brought back with spaced repetition until it stops being a mistake. Your weak spots become your curriculum.

We run this place on plain honesty:

  • Money. What is free is free every day, and what costs money says so before you touch it — the Handbook spells out every allowance.
  • Where your data lives. Your account and practice history are stored in the European Union. A few things necessarily go further — the text of a turn you send the AI tutor, your IP address for the bot check, payment details if you subscribe — and our Privacy notice names every provider and what each one sees.
  • Your voice. Neither the recording nor the transcript is stored. A finished exercise records which rules you slipped on, so Helfen can bring them back — never the words you said.
  • No certificates. Übungszeit is a place to practise and genuinely absorb the language, at your own pace, for as long as you like.

Die Gründer

The people behind it

Übungszeit is built by two people, in the open. Say hello — we read everything.
