Order a main course and a drink, and ask for the bill.

A small restaurant at lunchtime. Helfen is the waiter and the kitchen is busy.

• Order the schnitzel.
• Order a water.
• Say it tastes very good.
• Say no thank you, and ask for the bill.
• Pay twenty and say to keep the change.

1. 1Helfen speaks first. Listen — the German and its English are both on screen.
2. 2Read the line under “Sagen Sie” out loud. That yellow box always holds the sentence to say. The microphone opens by itself and turns red.
3. 3He answers what you actually said. 5 exchanges, and it ends when the errand is done.

Once it feels easy, turn the phrases off and do it cold — that is the whole point of coming back.
